Hi guys, thanks for stopping by! 🙂
We’re Brandon Watkins & Nicola Handreck, just a duo who met as little 17-year-olds. 7 years later we’ve both fulfilled our dream of playing college basketball and now pursuing the dream to travel this beautiful planet! This is our little slice of the internet where we get to share our journey with you. We’ve always documented our travels, whether that’s photos or GoPro videos but we thought what a better way to make it permanent than to put it up here and who knows, hopefully our kids can use our tips and tricks one day. If you’re new to our venture, then welcome aboard it’s been a pretty wild ride so far! We both grew up on farms in small towns and played basketball our whole lives which is luckily how our paths crossed! Soon discovering we both have the same passion, enthusiasm and values in all aspects of our lives, we just kinda, clicked. So a little bit more about us individually first..
Hi guys, Brandon here…Bit of a mixed background from me. I was born in Zimbabwe in Africa, then my family and I moved to a farm on New Zealand when I was six. From there I completed my primary and high school in in NZ and when I was about 13 I started to play basketball which I’m thankful for that as that’s how I met Nic… 😉
Hiya peeps, Nic here…I was born and raised in a little town in South West Victoria in Australia called Heywood. I also grew up on a farm and feel like this is where my adventurous nature began. I’ve never been one to sit in once place, I was always wandering off on the farm with my twin brother climbing trees, riding motorbikes etc and feel like my love for adventure just grew from there. I also luckily enough also played basketball too, pretty thankful for the game not only taking me around the world but also meeting my absolute best friend 🙂 We’re both dual citizens, so between us we have 4 passports, actually well 5 if you include Brandon’s African one. Bran is a NZ and British citizen and Nic is an Aussie and Maltese citizen. This is how we’re both able to live and work in the UK without a visa which is quite handy. Our relationship has been a bit of a wild ride… We did distance for our first year of dating while we both finished our last year of high school, so this meant flights back and forth between Australia and NZ where we could in our school holidays. From there we both super fortunate enough to recieve scholarships to go study and play basketball in the States which is where we’ve been based the last 4 and half years (2014-2018). Bran’s university was in North Carolina and Nic’s college was in South Carolina which was two hours apart which we were STOKED with as it was driving distance and not a flight! In our time in America we were able to travel quite a bit on Christmas and summer holidays and especially being so close to Florida we had some pretty epic road trips down there which we’ll soon fill you in on the must do’s! It wasn’t until half way through our senior year that we decided we weren’t ready to head back Down Under after graduation, so we booked a one-way ticket to the UK and it’s one of the best things we’ve ever done. One, we were finally able to be together and two, we could explore a new continent, or two. We both kick started our careers super quickly and travel where we can. Our little motto is ‘one new country every month’, and so far that’s worked out for us pretty well! We’ll try our best to keep you up to date with our Europe travels but will also begin to reflect on our time in America, the little time we’ve spent in Asia and also our homelands! We’re a pretty small team with big dreams and on a constant pursuit for new adventure and memories! So keep on following the journey and who knows, hopefully we’ll catch up along the way.
